[ SOLUTION ] HP Envy - NO SOUND Even After Factory Reset

Problem : Computer info does not show a sound card, speakers or recording device installed. The device list on the sound, video and game controllers section has IDT HIGH DEFINITION CODEC listed with an amber alert triangle on it. When the item is clicked, the properties window opens and under the "general" tab,  under device status it tells me "Reinstall the drivers for this device. (code 18)".  Every attempt to install the driver it tells "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.".

SOLUTION :
Download the IDT Audio installer and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R
Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall and restart.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let windows fully load.
